Sugar, Spice and Everything Nice
I am always looking for ways to spice up a dessert I usually make and when I came across a post in Pinterest about mixing pumpkin pie with gorilla bread, I knew I had to give this a shot. I have been making gorilla bread for a while and I have switched it around to have a lemon flavor and also with some melted chocolate on the inside. But I have never mixed the cream cheese with anything… until today.
I usually do not mess with the cream cheese aspect of this recipe but I figured it would be the only way to get the cream cheese to actually mix with the pumpkin puree. Before I whisked together the cream cheese and the pumpkin puree, I added some extra spices to get it the real pumpkin pie flavor. So I sprinkled some clover, cinnamon sugar, pumpkin pie spice and even a tiny bit of ginger. Then I dropped a block of cream cheese in and whisked away. Make sure your cream cheese is at room temperature so it mixes well with the puree.
From there, I followed my normal gorilla bread recipe but when it came to adding the square of cream cheese, I dropped in a mini scoop of the pumpkin puree mixture. I am not going to lie, it got really messy but that’s what makes baking fun, all the mess. Try this out the next time you make gorilla bread, I promise you will not regret it. Enjoy!
