Latin Twist: Sweet Cinnamon Plantain Turnovers

A Sweet Latin Twist

Since this past weekend was Cinco de Mayo, I decided to give a Latin twist on the traditional turnover. Turnovers are usually made with apples, peaches and other typical fruits. In giving it the Latin twist, I switched out the typical fruits for some sweet plantains. Once it mixed together with the cinnamon sugar, it was pure heaven. To make it even more decadent, pair it with a cinnamon sugar whipped cream.

I picked up this recipe from Publix and their Publix Apron program. I love heading to that area and seeing what new recipes I can try for my growing family. This specific recipe was paired with a shredded pork tostada recipe that was also very delicious. I like that they offer entree and dessert pairings that compliment each other. Follow the link above to see the recipe for yourself and to try it out. Both of these recipes are extremely easy and take little to no actual cooking at all.

If you try these recipes, do not forget to tag me @sgsimpleglamour and also Publix!

Enjoy!
