It’s A Magical Time
I love going to Disney and since I have my daughter, it gives me an excuse to go more often. One of the things I love about Disney is every year they are adding more and more things so every time you go there is something new to see. We typically only go over the weekends and not for an extended time so its always pretty fast paced. Here are some of my favorite things to do and places to go.
We usually hit up Disney Springs (formally known as Downtown Disney) the day we get there for dinner and some light shopping. My daughter is just like me and has this weird obsession with dinosaurs. Our favorite restaurant to go to is T-Rex. If you have ever been, you know it is just like Rainforest Cafe but the theme is dinosaurs instead of the rainforest. I would strive to make a reservation because just like every other restaurant there, it gets pretty packed.
But even if you do not make a reservation, there are plenty of things for you and the kids to do to make the time go by faster. Outside of the restaurant, they have a play area that is just like a dig site for the kids to entertain themselves. Inside the restaurant, they have their store, of course. They even have a Build-a-Bear that is dinosaur themed. Needless to say, we always take a new “friend” home when we dine there.
Here are some other restaurants I would recommend that I love in Disney Springs:
- Bongos Cuban Cafe – Cuban Food
- Cookes of Dublin – American/Irish Food
- Disney Food Trucks – American
- Morimoto Asia – Asian/Japanese Food
- Planet Hollywood – American Food
Don’t forget to save room for dessert! We usually stop by Ghirardelli to satisfy our sweet teeth (since they closed the one close to me on Lincoln Road in Miami) but we went a different route and had some delicious cupcakes from Sprinkles. Unfortunately, the Cupcake ATM was out of order but that did not stop us from getting a couple cupcakes inside. They had this mini sample box that came with three cupcakes that looked like it was to die for but momma wanted a full size cupcake so thats what I got!
After stuffing our faces the night before, we headed to Magic Kingdom to walk it off. I’ll tell you now, we have gone different times during the year and different days during the week. That does not stop the crowds that are always there at Magic Kingdom. So be prepared to always wait for something. Plan your day accordingly and fast pass some rides and character meetings. It will help you get more done during your time there.
I love going during the Holiday seasons because you get to witness all the beautiful decorations that they have all over the parks and shopping centers. I always stop by the Confectionary on Main Street for some sweets I can’t get at home and I also can’t leave the park without getting a Mickey Ice Cream. Those things make the day I spent sweating and standing in line all the better.
Something I would recommend and that I am going to start doing from now on is bringing my own food into the park. This includes lunch, snacks and of course, water. Even though the food is good at the parks, it just gets too expensive for my taste and the waits really kill you.
What are some of your favorite places to go to while you’re exploring the fantastic World of Walt Disney?
